SHOP HIGHLIGHT: Premier Performance

When you ask anyone who is part of the car scene in Utah who builds and tunes some of the best domestic cars in Utah and you will overwhelmingly hear the name Premier Performance.  Premier performance/Premier complete auto care is run by brothers Brock and Heath Besner and is located down on 8261 S Redwood Road in West Jordan. Premier Performance opened their doors in 2008, and have specialized in Ford, GM, and Mopar V8 performance, while servicing all makes and models on the other side of the shop Premier Complete Auto care where all repairs carry a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty.

Talking with Heath about their history of and love of cars it goes all of the way back to the first car they bought at the age of 13 a 1979 Mustang which they completed a complete restoration on when they were 16.  With this passion for cars they went into working in the automotive industry in 2002 finally opening their own shop in 2008 and they have been growing their business to what it is presently today.

I had some time to sit down with Heath and talk with him about his shop and the multitude of cars he has had the pleasure or dis-pleasure of working on as well as some of the projects that are going on currently in the shop and things we should be looking forward to seeing during the 2017 racing season and it sounds exciting.  These projects include a 2016 Twin Turbo 1000HP 9 sec street car as well as a multitude of customer and shop projects.  Every spring Premier opens up their shop to the public for a dyno day where for a small cost you can see how much power your car puts down.  The event is usually in conjunction with The Utah Muscle Car Association.

Over the years Premier has had a chance to work on a lot of fun and exciting cars from mild to totally crazy builds.  Some of the favorite builds that have come through the shop doors are the different variations of the AC Cobra Kit cars.  As with most kit cars each one has a personality all of its own from a twin charged 428 Cu. In. Cobra Jet Motor to a supercharged Coyote in the same chassis.

One struggle with running a performance shop is that some of the cars that come in are not build by Premier and some issues that arise are symptoms of the build by a previous shop or owner that may have not had the expertise in these builds.  In those cases premier is always willing to help fix the issues or hand the car back to the owner to fix before tuning begins.

I personally understand this because of a few wiring issues I had with my LQ4 swapped 67 Chevelle that I had premier tune.  After a few back and forth moves with the car to the shop and back to my house and back to the shop as well as re-wiring the IAT, and O2 sensors, and new spark plugs, wires.    My Chevelle was fully tuned at Premier making right at the power I was hoping for.  With all of this back and forth Both Brock and Heath were more than accommodating and super friendly and extremely knowledgeable to work with even when working with all mistakes I made in my build, and I will be taking my next project to them when it is ready as well.

For as long as I have been in the car seen Premier Performance and Premier Complete Auto Care has been the go to shop for anyone looking for basic maintenance, or to bring their car t the next level whether it be just a tune or a full all out build.  In shop they have the expertise to handle any of your needs and make your domestic performance car run at the top of its game.   I will continue to look forward to the cars that come out of Premier Performance for years to come.
